Tardy Policy

At Star Light School, punctuality is essential to maintaining an effective learning environment. Our tardy policy outlines expectations and procedures to support student responsibility and minimize disruptions.

Expectations

  • Students are expected to arrive on time each day and be seated in class when the bell rings.
  • Being on time demonstrates respect for the learning process and supports classroom continuity.

Consequences for Tardiness

  • The first few instances of tardiness may result in warnings or reminders.
  • For ongoing tardiness, the school may establish a written agreement between the student, parents, and school outlining expectations and consequences. The student can lose the privilege to participate in extracurricular activities, field trips or school events.

Habitual Lateness

  • Repeated tardiness is considered habitual after a defined number of occurrences (e.g., 5 or more within a term).
  • The school will implement intervention strategies, such as meetings with families, attendance plans, or support services, to address the underlying causes.

By promoting punctuality, we help students build responsibility, reduce classroom interruptions, and support academic success.
